Practical answers before the first short nights.
Can I choose these dishes while breastfeeding?
Our dishes are everyday meals for adults. Their ingredients and nutritional values are on the menu and label, so you can choose according to your needs. For a special diet while breastfeeding, ask your midwife or doctor.
When should I order if the due date is uncertain?
Choose the delivery date when you order, no later than six days before. Until then, you can change or skip the delivery. If the baby comes early, dishes from stock can be ordered up to two days before delivery, subject to availability.
How do we choose for two parents?
In the same delivery, add one person per parent: each has their own dishes, portion, exclusions and extras. With regular deliveries, these preferences are used to put the order together each week.
Which products suit busy days?
Complete dishes only need heating. Breakfasts, snacks, soups and desserts round off the same delivery, and à la carte portions let you adjust to your appetite.
How do I give meals to new parents?
With a merciChef gift card. You choose the amount, and we email it on the date you choose, or you print it to hand over in person. The parents then choose their dishes and delivery date. The card never expires.
Do the dishes arrive hot? How long do they keep?
They arrive cooked and chilled, never frozen. Refrigerate them on arrival: they keep for up to a week depending on the delivery day and the date on the label (4–5 days for stock dishes delivered on Thursday). Then heat the portion you want, about three minutes in the microwave, following the label.
Is there a subscription?
No. You can order once, or switch on regular deliveries with no minimum period: each week, you choose your dishes or we select them based on your preferences. Until the deadline, 11.59pm six days before delivery, you can change, skip or pause a delivery. An order locked for preparation remains payable.
Do I need to be at home for the delivery?
It depends on the delivery method. Our drivers leave your dishes at your door in an insulated box that keeps them cool; add a door code or instructions in your account. With Swiss Post, the handover follows the rules of the chosen service. Either way, put your dishes in the fridge as soon as you can.
What about allergies or exclusions?
Save each parent’s exclusions in your account. Always check each dish’s ingredients and allergens: traces may be present. Saved preferences do not guarantee that a dish is free from allergens.
How much do the dishes and delivery cost?
Each dish shows its price on the menu. Delivery charges depend on your address and the delivery method you choose, and the total is shown before you confirm. There is no subscription fee.
Which dish size should I choose?
Classic · 400 g suits most appetites, usually with 500 to 800 kcal. Large · 500 g is about a quarter more generous, with 650 to 1000 kcal and 4 to 13 g more protein. Each dish shows its values on the menu, and you can mix both sizes in the same delivery.
